Where is my data stored?

All your ideas are stored locally in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server. This means your ideas are private, but it also means they're tied to this specific browser on this device. Use the export feature to back up your ideas.

Does voice recognition work in my browser?

Voice recognition uses the Web Speech API, which is supported in Chrome, Edge, Safari, and most modern browsers. Firefox has limited support. If voice doesn't work, you can always type your ideas directly.

Why isn't voice recognition working in Chrome?

Chrome requires microphone permission and HTTPS. Make sure you've allowed microphone access in your browser settings. Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Microphone, and ensure voicebraindump.app is allowed.

Can I use VoiceBrainDump offline?

Yes! Once you've loaded the page, it works offline. However, voice recognition requires an internet connection in most browsers (it uses cloud-based speech recognition). Typing works fully offline.

How do idea connections work?

VoiceBrainDump extracts keywords from your ideas (filtering out common words like "the," "and," "is"). When two ideas share at least two significant keywords, they're connected. The more keywords they share, the stronger the connection.

What happens after 7 days?

Ideas older than 7 days appear in the "Revisit" tab. You can mark them as "Still cooking" to keep them active, or "Archive" them to clear your list. Archived ideas aren't deleted - they're just hidden from your main view.

Can I recover deleted ideas?

No, deleted ideas are permanently removed. We recommend using the export feature regularly to back up your ideas as a JSON file that you can keep safe.

What languages are supported?

Voice recognition supports English (US & UK), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. You can change the language in the settings menu.

How do I move my ideas to another device?

Use the "Export ideas" option in the settings menu to download a JSON file, then use "Import ideas" on your other device to load them. The import will skip duplicates, so you can safely import the same file multiple times without creating duplicate entries.
